"Det kommer betyda mycket för möjligheterna att rekrytera kompetens till regionen"
WE ARE ACCELERATING THE GREEN TRANSITION
Together with Torsboda Industrial Park, we are establishing a factory for the manufacture of anode material, which is an important component in batteries. It strengthens Västernorrland as a hub for the green transition and creates jobs in the region.
As a global leader in anode material production, PTL has four facilities in Asia via our subsidiary, Zichen. Our establishment in Torsboda Industrial Park will be our first in Europe and the largest anode material factory in Europe, featuring state-of-the-art and environmentally-friendly facilities. Our partnerships with actors in the Swedish battery value chain reflects our commitment to sustainability and green job creation in the region.
Investing in a greener tomorrow
PTL is dedicated to driving the ongoing green transition. We chose the location in Timrå, close to Sundsvall and Härnosand, based on our high ambitions and the region's excellent access to green energy, important raw materials and components, and a highly educated workforce. Our collaboration with leading battery companies is crucial, as we work together to create a world-class Swedish battery value chain.
Perspectives on the investment
Meet some of the region's key players who share their views on PTL's establishment: from the municipal company MittSverige Vatten och Avfall and the energy corporation E.ON, to the Swedish green tech company Absolicon, which has had 30 employees since they began research and work with solar collectors in 2007.
The agreement with PTL demonstrates the region's high ambitions to contribute to the green transition. At the same time, thousands of jobs are created, and we can clearly see in other regions how a large investment is followed by several others, building strong clusters with synergies.
Stefan Dalin,
Chairman of Torsboda Industrial Park AB
PTL is a leading global manufacturer of anode material, and the establishment in Sweden will not only reduce the total carbon footprint of our batteries but is also likely to attract more actors in the battery ecosystem to establish themselves in the Nordics.
Alexander Streif,
VP of Supply Chain Management at Northvolt
We are extremely proud to invest in Sweden, a country that has such a strong commitment to sustainable development. The Sundsvall region offers extraordinary conditions with great access to green energy, an ambitious long-term plan for the battery industry, a positive local community, and a geographical location to serve our European customers.
